The Problem We Solve

Vegan travelers and diners represent one of the fastest growing guest segments in the world and most hospitality businesses are not prepared to serve them. The result is an inconsistent, often frustrating experience that takes away from their vacation or meal and costs hotels and restaurants business, customer loyalty, and reputation. These are all measurable losses that a stronger vegan guest offering would prevent. 

Vegan Hospitality exists to intervene in this narrative by doing what no one else has done: setting the industry's first formal benchmarks for the vegan guest experience, certifying the properties that meet them, and influencing the direction of hospitality from the top down toward a future that is more inclusive, more sustainable, and more profitable for everyone.

Our Story

Vegan Hospitality began with Meredith’s own repeated experience while traveling and dining: vegan guests were treated as an afterthought in mainstream hospitality spaces. This lack of preparedness led to uncomfortable situations for both guests and hospitality staff. Restaurant managers, chefs, and hotel executives wanted to do better but didn’t know where to start. In 2017, Meredith began working directly alongside restaurant owners and hotels in the Caribbean, a region seeing growing demand for vegan tourism but lacking the expertise to meet guests’ needs. She found that her clients wanted to do right by their guests; they just needed someone to show them what was possible.

Through that early work, Vegan Hospitality trained and established a global network of consultants that were equipped with regional expertise, allowing the organization to support hospitality businesses by meeting them where they are within their unique cultural and operational contexts. Hayley trained with Meredith in 2021, becoming the first Certified Vegan Hospitality Consultant in Africa, and she later joined Meredith to scale Vegan Hospitality’s global operations. Their work led to the development of the Hotel Certification—a rigorous evaluation process designed to help build the sustainable, inclusive infrastructure where vegan guests are prioritized as a standard — not an exception. When hospitality businesses meet or exceed these standards, they should be recognized and celebrated for their commitment. 

Vegan Hospitality is working to elevate the entire industry by helping mainstream hotels, restaurants, and food service operations recognize and genuinely meet the needs of the vegan guest segment. What's not yet broadly understood is that serving these guests well sits at the intersection of wellness tourism, sustainable travel, and multicultural inclusivity: three of the most important trends shaping hospitality today. By helping the industry meet vegan guests with the same care and consistency it extends to everyone else, Vegan Hospitality is normalizing inclusive service as a hallmark of exceptional hospitality and a proven driver of loyalty, reputation, and revenue.
